Description
Wills (anthropology, U. of New Mexico) offers a closely argued, plausible explanation for the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture. He assesses his model by considering as a case study the initial introduction of cultigens into the Mogollon Highlands of west central New Mexico and east central Arizona, incorporating new radiocarbon data that suggests the first cultivation was much more recent than previously thought.
