Description
Gordon examines the history, causes, and ramifications of violence against women. She shows that the men who perpetuate violence are often in a position of power; their actions are deliberate; and they use violence as a way to maintain dominance and control of the women they abuse. The rise of movements such as #MeToo and Black Lives Matter are focusing attention on the abuse, but are unlikely to show immediate results. -- adapted from Introduction.
